My wife applied PR with Open work permit by inland family sponsorship this March.
Her current status is visitor and current visa will expire next month.

In this case does she needs to extend visitor visa?

The OWP application gave her implied status, so she does not need to renew her visitor visa.

No, she does not require to extend the visitor status. By submitting the OWP with the application, she will get "implied status" as a visitor after her visitor visa date expires until she gets her OWP approval.
