Hi all,

Once again, thank you all for the replies on my previous topics, it has been a great help, truly. I appreciate each and everyone's help. I'm almost done submitting my forms, but would just like to double-check a couple of things.

First, some background information: I'm being sponsored by my common-law partner who is a born Canadian citizen. We're going through the Spousal Sponsorship program and I'm also applying for an open work permit. I'm currently on visitor status, but before that was working here from March 2017 - March 2018 and was studying here from February 2016 - February 2017

Regarding form IMM5589E, page 5, section: 5. Employment/Source of Income. It states the following: "If you are working in Canada, provide an original letter from your current employer stating your period of employment, salary, and regular hours per week."

My partner is currently working in Canada on a full-time contract. She got extended twice and has had to sign 2 more contracts stating she'll accept the extension. Her original contract states her original period of employment and salary. However, it does not state the regular hours per week, it just states that she'll be employed on a full time basis, and that the hours of work may vary.

My question is: Would sending in her contracts she signed with the company be enough, (these being her original contract, and her 2 contract extension forms). Or would you all recommend a written letter from the employer, stating her period of employment, salary and regular hours per week?

Thank you all so much once again, I'm sorry to ask so many questions. I hope this is the last you'll hear of me! It's truly been a great help so far, so thank you all.

I was in a somewhat similar situation- on 2 temporary contracts for different employers (one full time, one occasional) while in Canada, and one of those contracts had been renewed multiple times. I decided to send in all my signed contracts, and also wrote a detailed letter explaining my current work situation. In the letter, I also laid out my plans for income if either of those contracts were not renewed. I included some documents that demonstrated I could support myself and my partner (ex: 401K from previous work in the US) that I had mentioned in the letter.
