Hi all,

I'm a Mexican citizen in the process of obtaining everything that I need to create an Express Entry profile. I will be taking my IELTS exam a week from Saturday, and I am now looking into what ECAs I need to request. I am planning to mention the following credentials in my profile:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from the US.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from Mexico.
  • An International Certificate on International Business from France.
  • My US High School Diploma.

My question to you is: is this too much? Should I only go with my two Bachelor's degrees, or maybe just with my US credentials? Each ECA is $200, so I wouldn't want to get more credentials assessed than necessary.

Your advise will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Victor

It's $200 per application, but you can have multiple credentials assessed in the same application. You don't need a separate application for each credential you want assessed.

I think you need to get all the credentials that would get you max points assessed. I think you can claim "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years". You certainly don't need to get your high school diploma assessed if you're University educated.

For anything you don't include in your profile, make sure you mention it under Personal History in your post-ITA application.

Thank you, Ufa6174, that is excellent news! I was under the impression that it was an ECA per credential. Would the fact that my HS diploma is from an English-speaking country add any points at all? That's the only reason why I had thought to get my HS assessed as well.

Thanks again!

That's right. It is the same price 200$ for one assessment, no matter how many credentials you attach into it. However, I suggest you get it done for the latest bachelor degree as well as that international course you did in france (sounds to me like a post graduate diploma,is it though?)

Hi thatguy56,

This was a program I was in as I was studying my Bachelor's Degree. I spent a summer in France and a week in Mexico City, which awarded me an International Certificate in International Business Administration from a French University; therefore, it is not a post-graduate Certificate, but just an International Certificate.

Nope, it wouldn't.

I'm not sure how would WES look at your International Certificate. I think what you need to shoot for is "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years". Have you really done 2 separate Bachelor's degrees (never head anyone doing that)? Theoretically that should get there, although it's usually awarded for people with a BA and MA or some diploma or some other study programme. At any case do include the International Certificate in your application, you won't be losing anything. Good luck :)

Ufa6174, yes, this was with a program/partnership that these two universities have for being part of the Laureate Universities network. I was able to receive two Bachelor's Degrees when I graduated: one from the US and another one from Mexico. That should count for the "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years," right?

Hmm. I doubt that tbh with you, but this is just a speculation obviously. Both degrees are awarded for the same period of study. For ECA you'd need to submit (usually) transcripts and a copy of the certificate. Do you have these for both? What do the transcripts show?

In any case do send everything you have, you're not losing anything.

Yes, I have both diplomas and both universities can issue and send the respective transcripts. They show all the courses I took with each one from 2008 to 2012. Both universities show up in WES's website, so they seem to be recognized. The only thing is that I received one of those degrees through the partnership that that university has with my home university. It's still recognized as a valid Bachelor's Degree in the US, so I would hope that Canada would recognize it as such also :S
