I am sponsoring my husband. we are applying from dubai. my husband (principle applicant ) has to provide IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS such as birth certificate. SO my question is
Should it be original or a notarized photocopy of that document?
please reply

The Guide says all documents listed in Item 1 are to be originals. All others (birth certificates are listed under item 2) should be notarized copies, unless otherwise instructed.

I ordered a certified.copy, is that the same thing? And I don't need an apostille do I?

For you, no. OP is applying from the Middle East, different requirements. A certified true copy from the relevant authority is all that is required for US.

I was worried because they asked if I needed one when I ordered it. Phew.
