QUESTION: Original T4 required for sponsorship

Interesting - this must be a Very Recent Change... Last November I requested, (and received) 'an original "Option C Printout" of your last Notice of Assessment for the most recent taxation year.' - (the wording from the IMM 5491 Sponsor Checklist #17)
The 'original "Option C Printout"' is a document that is as an "original" provided by the CRA that is evidence of your actual NOA. It's Not the actual NOA...It was also confusing to me in it's reading at first, but was made clear to me by a previous post on the forum here

I just received the package from CRA. The Option C looks totally different than the regular NOA
More interestingly, the T4 Original from CRA are also different from the ones issued by employers. It clearly states T4-Originals

So I guess CIC has a reason why they specifically ask for these docs
