Question on Updating Marital Status

Hello everyone,

I need some enlightenment for this issue:

I will be renewing my passport and I plan to change my name to my married name. I am currently holding an open work permit and my application for permanent resident is still in process. I did inform the immigration of my change of status but all my documents with them are still in my maiden name. On the other hand my SIN, Care Card, BCID and Bank accounts were all changed to my married name.

Question, Will there be a problem if I get a TRV using my new passport considering that my work permit still bears my maiden name? Would providing a copy of my marriage certificate be enough proof that I am the one and the same person?

You may ask to have your work permit information updated.

It might cause confusion, but if you keep a copy of your old passport (if your country doesn't return it to you) and a copy of your marriage certificate should be sufficient.
