Q.10 asks us to declare any Government Positions held.

Now, my wife works in a Government owned Bank (IDBI Bank). It is not per se a Govt. Position like a judge, police or civil servant. Should I be declaring her position as a Govt. position? And does it complicate matters?

I am the principal applicant. I have claimed points for her education and English language scores.

Personally, i think that working for a government owned company does not count as a government position. I would say that is reserved for civil servants.

At least that would be the common sense answer to the issue.

I understand the same. But I do not want to be misrepresenting any facts. I would declare she works in a bank - but not in the Govt. Section perhaps.

Could there be any issues at all?

In your case as your wife is not the PA, I am not sure if the background verification of job is even considered? Experts - please correct me if I am wrong.

I would just put it down as regular work experience and if you are concerned about it, just include the information that the bank is givernment owned as part of your LOE. That way there shouldnt be anything to worry about.

Let me just add that I also have the same problem and a lot of people have advised me to not declare this as a Govt. position.
