Question on PCC, what is your understanding of this?

If i was residing in a country A
2010 for 3 months
2011 i reside for a period of 2 months
2014 i travelled for tourism for 1 month, do i need a pcc for that country?

You will need to get a PCC. Its combined time that counts and doesn't matter if you have stayed at a stretch or in breaks.

No, it is not required if the total time you have been in a particular country is less than 6 months ( or 180 days).

My understanding is a little different, you need to stay in a country for at least 6 months in a row within last 10 years for PCC to be required. This is the advice from some senior members on this forum as well. Please check the following thread which I had raised:

I found the following paragraph on the CIC website link. Can you please provide the link of the quoted section you've provided.

yup, rules changed recently. Has to be 6 months in a row, single stay. In your case, you DON'T need a PCC.

Just the paragraph before that Note in blue reads like this
"As part of a complete application, applicants, their spouse or common-law partner and their dependent children 18 years of age or older (including non-accompanying dependents) must submit a valid police certificate for all countries or territories (except Canada) in which they have spent six months or more in a row within the last 10 years since the age of 18."
So, I think we can be sure that it has to be 6 months in a row. In that note, I guess the focus is on the fact that PCC is required even if you didn't have an established residential address for those 6 months or more period.

Coming in a bit late to this but I have a question.

The PCC requirement in Express entry states

• every country you (or a family member) stayed in during the last 10 years for 6 months or more in a row

But in the document check list in this link

It states this

This is confusing for me as it does not mention if it is cumulative stay or continuous stay for an individual that has travelled for 6 months or row in a country even if no residential ties were established.

For instance. I have been travelling a resident (work permit) for 10 years in Country X and already got PCC for my time of residence. I left country X in 2015 (as a resident under work permit) with my PCC. From 2016 to 2019 I have been visiting country X at least once or twice a month for other reasons each trip lasting max 2 days (week ends) as A TOURIST. Country X being a foreign country to me does not issue PCC for tourists but only residents or work permits, students etc.

My confusion is does the requirement say that I need a PCC from country X even if you did not have residential ties from 2016 to 2019 but travelled there continuously for 6 months in a row (Jan 2 times, Feb 2 times, until ... june 2 times and so on and so forth) or I need PCC from country X for 2016 to 2019 if I have stayed in country X as tourist/business purpose for 6 months in a row?

This rule seems to be interpreted in different ways by many different people.

You need it only if you have stayed there for 6+ months in a row, i.e., continuous stay. The reason for your stay is irrelevant.
