Question on PCC and Right of Landing Fee for sponsoring baby

I wish to ask a question on sponsorship of my son, a 4-month-old baby. I am a Permanent Resident of Canada and my wife is also a PR of Canada. My wife delivered a baby in India last year and I have applied for sponsorship of my baby boy to Canada. The processing of the application is the second stage in New Delhi as I have met the sponsorship eligibility. We have received a letter from CIC, New Delhi asking us to submit PCC and pay Right of Landing Fee. As per CIC web site and application form guide, PCC is not required to be submitted for applicants less than 18. Also dependent children are also exempt from paying Right of Landing Fee. My baby is the only dependent included in the application and is also the only Principal Applicant. There are no other dependants mentioned in the application form nor I am sponsoring any one else. I am wondering what I need to do as the letter asks us to submit the two documents but their website states not required. The letter states that failure to submit documents will result in refusal of application. If anyone had a similar experience please share with it with me on how to handle the situation. I would really appreciate your help.

Sounds like a clerical error. Email the VO stating that as your son is only 4 months old and the dependent child of the sponsor, he is exempt from both the PCC and RPRF requirements. If you don't hear back from them within a few days confirming their mistake, you should contact your MP.

Just one question I like to ask. Since both of you are PRS, are both of you in Canada currently? Being a PR sponsor, one of you have to be in Canada for child sponsor. You didn't say that you are currently in Canada and started the process from within Canada for outland child sponsorship.

If you are not in Canada, your application can be denied on account that you are not residing in Canada. Permanent Resident sponsors are required to be in Canada for any type of sponsorship, parental, child or spousal PR sponsorship.

Hi,
Yes, both me and my wife are permanent residents. I am aware of the eligibility requirement that I have to be in Canada to sponsor the child. My wife is presently in India after child birth, but I am living in Canada and filed the sponsorship application in Canada.

Glad to know that. I figured you knew what you were getting yourself into. Just hope that your child will get PR before your wife run out of residency requirement to maintain her PR status as well.

Good luck and all the best.
