Hi All,
Most of the questions about BC that I saw on this forum were old, so starting this one to post my queries.
I am planning to apply for CA PR under EE and wanted to know if an original birth certificate is a mandatory requirement as of 2018. I do not have a birth certificate. I could apply for one online, but the problem is that, like most people from the 80s, my DoB was changed while joining school. So my birth records have my original DoB, but ALL of my documents have another DoB. I think this is a pretty common problem. So my questions are:
1. Is BC still mandatory? and at what stage is it needed?
2. What are my options if it has to be submitted? I really do not want to go about correcting my DoB in all the documents. It's practically impossible at this stage as there are way too many official docs to change. So, as far as I am concerned, my fake DoB is my correct DoB.
3. Will they accept an affidavit of birth instead? I checked with the immigration consultancy Y-Axis and they confirmed that an affidavit IS acceptable in lieu of the original BC. Should this affidavit be made in the same place of birth or anywhere? I was born in Kerala but live in Bangalore.
Does anyone have personal experience with an issue like this and have you successfully submitted/received your PR?
