I am engaged to a native Quebecois. I am in Canada now, staying with him as a visitor, and was recently offered a job. We are just starting to begin the paperwork for the work permit. However, I have a few questions. Once we go through the Quebec CAQ acceptance process and that gets figured out, and I leave Canada to submit my Work Permit form to a Visa office, can I return to stay with my fiancee while we wait for the permit to be processed? I don't mind going back home when my letter from the visa office arrives and then traveling through the border to receive my needed documents, but I would like to not be separated from my partner during the few months that the processing may take.
Thoughts?
Also, I'm a US Citizen. I don't know if that matters.
I guess a second or affiliated question is: If I apply online, do I even need to leave Canada to apply?
