My work permit will be expired in May 31, and I will leave Canada then. But I am planning to return Canada in this Summer as a visitor. Can I apply for a new temporary resident visa from within Canada NOW? Somebody told me that if I apply for a TRV now when I am still in Canada, the new TRV's period will be the same with my work permit, that is May 31. Could it be a new TRV with 10 years period, so that I can use it in this Summer?

you can't apply for a TRV as a visitor from within Canada.

It is unlikely that they will grant you a visitor visa while you still have a status in Canada. I suggest you apply for your TRV in your home country once you leave.

Pls dont let anyone mislead you, you can apply for TRV form within Canada, they will give you, it is easier here than your home Country.

incorrect.

You can apply for a temporary resident PERMIT from within Canada. which is an extension of your status in Canada and which expires once you leave the country. It does not authorize re entry

other option would be to apply for a TRV being a work permit or a student permit holder, however that will only be valid as long as your work permit is valid. it is not a visitor's visa.

he could sent the application for a new visitor TRV to any Canadian consulate in the US, however it is unlikely that he will get one while he is still in Canada and holds a temporary work permit in here
