Question about terminology

Hey everyone,

So I'm putting some final touches on my girlfriend's application; however, we keep running into a terminology question.

She and I are commonlaw, neither of us have kids or were ever married.

"Family Members": does this refer to her, the applicant, AND me, the spouse/sponsor? For example, we are asked to provide photos of all family members, does that mean my photo is needed, or am I not considered a family member as I am the sponsor for this application?

Also, would we need to include our parents as family members? We are both in our twenties so I assume not.

Any help is much appreciated!

Only the applicant needs to provide photos, in this context the sponsor (you) are sponsoring the applicant and her immediate family (dependants) - just list her.

If it's IMM008 you are referring to, this is from the applicants point of view.

See here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp#family

"Who should be included in this application?

If you are being sponsored as a member of the family class, your spouse or common-law partner (except where your spouse or common-law partner is the sponsor) must be included in your application as a family member."

Awesome! Thank you so much! So I wouldn't need to submit 5 photos of myself as I'm the sponsor and not a "family member", correct?

for application purposes, the sponsor is not considered a "family member", they are the sponsor.

"Family members" refers to anyone listed in the application who is applying for PR. For spousal sponsorship, the only family members are dependant children who may or may not be accompanying the applicant. Parents and siblings are not eligible to be on the application, so they are not considered family members for application purposes.

You do not need to submit photos of yourself (the sponsor). Photos are only needed for those applying for PR on the application, ie: your wife.
\
The only form the applicant's parents and siblings need to be mentioned is on the "Additional Family Information Form".
