Hello all,

I have a quick question about the second part of the application.
This is applying for an outland application.

So the first step is the sponsor evaluation,
after sponsor evaluation, decision made.

After decision made, the documents get forwarded to the VO in the country closes to your family member.

My question is as follows:
When the application is mailed by the CIC to the VO, does the VO give confirmation of receipt of documents?
Typically how long does it take for the documents to reach the overseas VO?
This is for spousal sponsorship.

Also, what is the next step? I mean - of course waiting, but what does the next step involve after the VO does processing?

Thank you so much everyone for being a supportive and great community!
Best regards and all the best!

I think it depends on a country, it can vary from few days or a week to possibly longer. As far as i understand the second step is to evaluate if the relationship is genuine and if so then proceed with the background and other checks of the applicant. If all is in order then after that stage the VO can issue the visa.

only a few visa offices will send AOR2's. I know Ottawa does NOT. To find out about yours, go to the visa office thread. i'm sure you'll be able to find out there!

once it's transferred, it basically sits around until it's time for a visa officer to start processing it. At this point applicants get requests for more documents, interviews, pass port requests, and COPR. Along the way, ECAS *may* change to In Process, then eventually Decision Made. How long the file sits around for is dependant on the visa office it is at.

Thank you so much for the replies and helpful info!
