I am currently working in NB on PGWP(post graduate WP) which expired May 22,2010 , I applied for a WP extension online May 13th,2010 with my NB provincial Nominee certificate as a support letter and hence never needed a LMO. Here's the stupid thing I did, when I applied online, the attachements didn't go through properly. I called the Call center immediately after I submitted and they suggested I re-send the supporting documentation in mail to Vegreville with the same reference# as my online one and maybe they'll link it which I did.
Around July 15th,2010, after 2 months I got a letter back from CIC that there wasn't enough documentation and an LMO was not attached and hence the application was rejected and that I either leave Canada or re-apply with a valid LMO in conjunction with Restoration application because my visa is no longer valid.
A day later on July 16th, I re-applied with another extention of WP+Restoration of status again online but this time I made sure all documents were properly attached and viewable.
Meanwhile in August 2nd week, my PR application that was sent by the province of NB to Buffalo back in May 2010 sent me a medical request letter, which I got done on August 27th and after that I've had no acknowledgement from Buffalo.
Here's the twist to all the above, I now have to make a trip OUTSIDE of the country due to some family emergency and in the belief that since I applied in July and with 2 1/2 months of time being enough(as stated on CIC for processing times) , I booked my ticket for Sept 24th from NY.
On September 16th,2010 I got a letter from CIC again saying my application processing will take upto another 60 days and that I should not contact CIC to check the status until the 60 day mark has passed.
I called CIC again asking them for an advice on what to do at this point when I have to leave the country and no decision made by CIC yet. The agent suggested that I can apply at a visa office outside of Canada and my application processing in-canada will be cancelled at that point.
Now the big question! What should I really do at this point?? Anyone know how long it would take and what the process is, if I do decide to exit Canada and apply for my WP+restoration?

Response would be highly appreciated.
