Question about re-entering Canada on expired PR

Hi,

My mum has just met her residency requirement, we are now applying for renewal. However in the next 2 weeks, she needs to travel to US for a close family wedding. Can she go and then return with her old PR Card (which is expired) having met her residency requirement and submitted her application for renewal? She will be returning through land border.

Will appreciate any advice.

What do you mean by "just met"? Will she still meet the RO after spending some days outside Canada?

As long as she meets RO on the day she returns, then crossing via land border with expired PR card is perfectly fine.

I mean she has already met her residency requirements end of Feb 2018 and we are just applying to renew. However she may not have her new PR card in 2 weeks time. She wants to travel to US on March 15th. I wanted to know if she could return with the old card and what happens at the border post?
