Hey, all!

As my partner and I are putting our family class common law application together (sending it out within a week or so! WOO HOO!), I have a quick question!

It looks like we have a lot of proof to go into our application: lease agreement, joint bank account, HUNDREDS of pictures, birthday cards, concert tickets... The list goes on.

We also have hundreds of grocery store receipts that we saved, showing how we would split our grocery bills in half each time we paid (i.e.: we paid with debit cards, and both of our account numbers are on the grocery receipts to show we both paid).

Should we be including all of these grocery receipts with our application (there's literally hundreds..)?

Any input would be much appreciated :).

EDIT: Sorry if this is a dumb question - just not sure if all of these receipts are really relevant or will help in any way.

THANKS TEAM!!

I believe this application is for a common-law or conjugal partner?

No I don't think there would be much value added in including all the grocery receipts. If you have receipts of any gifts you may have bought for one another that would be better. The lease agreement and joint bank account shows that you two are together. If you have any insurance policies etc. that list you both together that would be good too. Any policies showing one of you as the beneficiary would be great.

With shared lease and joint bank account, I don't think you really need to also include shared receipts. However it can't hurt and just adds more proof, but instead of sending in ALL of them, just include a few from various dates of the cohabitation (so the earliest one, from the middle, and most recent).

Also you don't need to include hundreds of photos. Just a few from each major event you want to share, should be sufficient. We had around 30 pictures total in our common-law app.

As another proof, the Canadian can show they have changed marital status with CRA to common-law, from single.

I changed my status online through the CRA login, and took a screeenshot of that, do you think its enough or should I actually ask for a document showing I changed status? sorry for the thread hijack

Just a screenshot from the CRA "my account" should be fine (that's what we did).
