Good morning all!

Didn't sleep very well, I've been thinking about this application constantly! Here is my first question of the day.. And a bit of background info if you haven't read my 567 other posts :p

We are doing an outland application for my common law partner who is from Guatemala. Therefore the Mexico City office will be processing his application. In the event that he gets called in for an interview, I'm assuming it will be held in Mexico, am I correct?
Problem is, citizens of Guatemala need a visa to get into Mexico (sort of like a TRV). If he gets denied this visa (which is very common!), then he won't be able to go to the interview? Surely I am missing something here...

Also, does anybody have stats or data on that specific office? How long they take to process and acceptance rate? Before CIC changed things up on their website, I think it said average processing time of 8 months but now I can't be sure...

Any input, thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated! :)

Hi ,
you will probably have you interview in the Canadian Embassy in Guatemala , I see people averaging 9 to 13 months in this forum , before CIC changed the way you view processing time Mexico City was listed at 18 months .

you have a bit patient , info here is not exactly what will happen to your app , CIC treats each case differently .

so hang on there and you should be fine .

I was expecting the wait time, that's ok! I just got a bit worried about the going to Mexico thing for the interview... But this makes me feel better!

Hi just signed up for this forum because I have the exact same issue except my wife is from El Salvador. Did you end up needing to go to Mexico for an Interview? Thanks

The interview is conducted via telephone.

So the interviews for central america is conducted in Mexico or via telephone. Please clarify, since my cousin is marrying in Guatemala.
