Hello,

My passport got stamped which has end date of 1 year after my medical examination date. I definitely plan to visit Canada airport to start my PR card, but does the stamp mean I actually have a PR or I have to wait until I get the card?

Also I know it will take me a few weeks to get the actual PR card, but when I visit the Canada airport for PR, will they give me a document stating I am a PR of Canada?

Reason am asking is I am about to go for US visa stamping and on DS-160, they asked if I am a PR of any other country. Am not sure if they will ask me for related documents to show that I am PR of Canada, but only thing I have now on hand is the stamp on my passport.

No you're not a PR. You should answer no on DS 160. Why can't you make use of automatic Visa revaluation instead of going for Visa stamping?

You are NOT a PR until you complete landing formalities at a border crossing, i.e. an airport
You CoPR will be signed by CBSA officer and yourself when you land and that will be your proof of PR status

@ishangodbole - Thanks for replying! I am planning to go to Canada first, get my PR formalities done over there and then fly to India from there. Since I am visiting India with an expired H1B, I will have to get that stamped as well. Hence I was confused if I should be putting yes or no on DS-160 as I will be submitting my passport to US consulate which has Canada stamp and will also get my PR done at Canada before that.

@ContactFront - Thanks for replying!
