Hi guys,

When I received PPR, Seattle also requested that I send 2 photos for myself and accompanying family members at the same time. My question is, will I have to provide more photographs when we complete our landing? I see that some forum members say they brought photos when they landed but didn't need them, but others were required to have them. What is the difference in circumstances that require or don't require photos.

Thanks!

I'm not sure - but when I landed, I was not asked for more photos, and there was one attached to my COPR already... my VO originally asks for 8 pictures, which is quite a lot, but then they don't ask for anything else later on. I landed 10 days ago and didn't have to show anything else than my COPR (2 versions of it, one with picture that the officer kept, and one without that I still have).
Good luck,
Sweden

Good enough for me, because I don't want to shell out 50 bucks for photos I don't even need. Thanks, and +1 for you.

I been reading alot of people only got CoPR with 1 photo attached both of mine had photo attached... I am assuming that CBSA kept the one with your photo's cus thats the photo that will be used on your PR card correct? did any of you that only got 1 photo ask about traveling with passport and CoPR? I asked, ya know the holidays coming up and I know I ain't gonna have PR card before Christmas heck I'm only a border away and he told me as long as the CoPR was still affixed in my passport I could use them together for travel.

Mine only has picture on one copy of the COPR, the other one didn't, I asked the border officer about it, and indeed - the one with picture is because of the PR card. You can travel with the COPR + passport, but if you're visa exempt, you don't even need that... you can go back and forth, and once you re-enter Canada just tell them you are a PR, and they can check on the computer. So should not be a problem indeed.

Oh I was in immigration one time when a girl came thru on a greyhound she didn't have her PR card yet she had her passport but no CoPR and they pulled her off the bus and made her go over on the "bad" side LOL where you feel like your being interrogated she was embarrassed and crying and they told her she had to wait until they could verify if she was a PR or not... thats why I asked and I just triple checked I have a picture on the one in my PP as well so I dunno lol another CIC discrepancy!

The details of the plain paper CoPRs are at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob379.asp. Only one (the CIC one) needs to have a photo.

It is best to carry your CoPR with you as proof of your status (if you are visa exempt or driving over the border or other private transportation) until you have your PR Card, at which point store it in a safe place until you apply for naturalization.
