IRCC has requested me to send them my passport, however, I got a new one because the one that I currently have is expiring next year, do I need to send them the new one or old one, both

You can relax a bit, you're not the first person to have a passport renewed.

Probalby the new one. But if you're worried, send both with explanation that you got it renewed.

Happened to me, I only sent the new one. There were no issues.
