The justification for inland taking longer than outland is that with an inland application, the partners are together in Canada. With outland, the partners might be separated, in particular if the applicant comes from a country whose citizens need a visa to enter Canada. Lots of marriages could not withstand more than a two-year wait apart.
so then it is a staffing issue? why doesn't the government hire some more immigration people then to process faster? 2 years is ridiculous

That's why we were thinking inland cause we wanted to stay together. We had a baby last year also and it would be hard if he had to leave. Thing is is he's from England so I don't think he'd have issue compared to someone from a visa required country. But I know the wait time is incredibly long and I swore I send outland but a lot has happened and we wanted it done. Always something. We just want to be together. 2 years apart is a very long time.

Money, obviously.

It is a choice to apply inland. Most outland apps take less than a year.

Hi everyone. Not sure if most will see this or not.

We have our Landing Interview today. We got notice a few weeks back that everything went well and was Approved and today is our day to get my husband his PR. :D
Thought it would take longer but we are excited. Thanks for all the advice, especially @canuck_in_uk for commenting a lot and everything.

Any info on what happens next would be greatly appreciated. Can he just renew this every 5 years or is there more? He doesn't want full citizenship but wants dual so we don't know what the next steps are!

Much love! x

He will have to apply to renew his PR card, provided he meets the residency obligations.

If desired, he can apply for citizenship, again, provided he meets the criteria.

Personally I feel it should be one stream, the "apart" argument is BS, living inland has it's own strains and issues on the marriage.

Thank god for the backlog program now addressing Inland being left on the shelf...I'm a 2016 inland...for you're info march 2016 Inland applicants are already getting SA even prior to receiving their OWP!

(3 months for SA rather than 15 months cuts processing times down quite a bit)

I thought Inland was quicker. We had no idea this was even happening. I thought it might have been because we are in NB and NB is hard up for people to live here but I'm not entirely sure. We were about to apply for his OWP cause we thought it was going to take 2 years but we got an email just before we did.
