Question about my work experience for FSW category

Hi All,

I would like to apply for immigration to Canada under FSW category. I have had work experience as a college lecturer which is definitely in one of the 38 occupations listed in new ministreal instructions but the problem is, the experience I have as college lecturer is in two parts:

August 1999 to February 2000 (Seven months)
AND
August 2000 to 20th March 2001 (Seven months & 20 days)

As you can see I took a 5 months break in-between from work so my question to you is does it affect my case since Canadian immigration rules reads "you must have at least one year of continuous full time or equivalent paid work experience in the last years in one or more occupations identified in ministreal instructions" ?

I think this question needs to be carefully reviewed because there is a GAP in work experience I have gained. Please note, I worked as a lecturer in college on adhoc basis but it was full time paid work experience.

I am currently employed as Senior Secondary teacher since April 2001.

I would appreciate your valuable answers.

Regards,
Rajni

As per my understanding, the word continuous means, uninterrupted in time or without cessation. So decide for yourself.

However, note that I am not Immigration Consultant nor Lawyer. This is based purely on my understanding of English and the statement above.

It needs to be one year continous experience. There is already a thread here somewhere from a member who was refused because of 2 parts work experience. You can still apply. Maybe you will get a visa officer in an exceedingly good mood who will look past this and approve you. If you are denied, you'll get the fees back anyway (eventually) so you have nothing to lose except you lend money to CIC for a few months.

Thanks guys.

I contacted immigration lawyer David Cohen & he said the same thing. The experience has to be full time & continuous for one year.

By the way, I would like to ask one more question:

Does it change anything if the college issue me a new work experience certificate stating I have worked with them as a lecturer during academic sessions 1999 - 2000 & 2000 - 2001 ?

I may get this certificate fom the college I used to work. Seniors please help me with this question.

Hi Meena,

You can contact him at dcohen@canadavisa.com

However at first you will have to fill the free assesment they provide at their official website www.canadavisa.com after you fill & sent this they will contact you.

I spoke to him on phone 2 days ago and he was really helpful.

Best of luck.

If your college can issue a certificate of continuous 1 year paid work exp and later validate it, then you can apply provided you qualify 67 points or above.

Hi Guys,

Meena: you can contact David Cohen @ +1 (514) 937-9445 but I think its better you first fill their free assesment form so when you can him he knows who you are.

ROCKY: Thanks for your suggestion. I am trying to get a certificate from the college where it reads I have worked with them as a lecturer for academic sessions 1999-2000 & 2000-2001

Lets see what happens.

Thanks.

Hi Leon,

Thanks for answering this important question.

I think the college won't have any objection/problem issuing the certificate that I need.

Best Regards,
