hello fellow members, I am a Canadian citizen next week! So exctiing but my girlfriend is from Ireland. She came here in June and is on 6 month stay since there is no date in her passport. I want to apply for PR for her under common law but to qualify as common law we need to live together for one year.

So I have few questions. In December she and I are planning to travel to Ireland to visit her family and return in two weeks. Would the border agents question us and possibly deny entry because it’s so soon? Can I tell them that we want to stay together for one year and apply for PR.. as common law?

If I apply for visa extension in November, can she travel and would the extension apply when she is back?

Please tell me about how you dealt with similar situations. Common law and PR

Won't be an extension you would need a new visitor stay. Most couples in this situation don't leave Canada because there is a risk that they could be denied entry at the border. Your gf can explain that she is back so soon because your are trying to live together for 12 months to apply for common law. Hard to guess what will happen.
