Question about my journey to become an International Student

Hey my name is Joshua and I'm 18 years old and live in germany
I have got a few close friends in victoria and I simply love spending time over there (I literally go there whenever I got a few weeks of vaca) and now I plan to apply to go to Camosun College in vic.

Now I just finished school here in germany and I literally have nothing to do anymore now where I'm done with school and I'm still waiting for my TOEFL letter to arrive so I can apply for college.

Coming to my actual question.

After receiving my accepted college application letter can I apply for a student visa WHILE I am still staying in victoria (or can I ask my mom to fill it our for me?)

I would really really appreciate if someone could help me out with this because google'ing so far hasn't provided me with any "understandable" results for me so far

i am guessing ur nationality is German and u dont need a canadian visa. In that case u need to apply for a study permit outside of canada. U can either do it in Germany or in LA USA u cannot do an "in canada" application.

You can do it online , once you got your LOA from the college. which is easy if you got all required document.

I came to Canada as a visitor. Now, I want to study. Can I?

New rules for prospective international students are now in effect (as of June 1, 2014).

If you are already in Canada as a visitor, you have a few options if you still have legal status in Canada.

For a new study permit, you can apply:

from your home country or another country where you are lawfully admitted. Many visa offices have specific local instructions about which documents you must submit with your application and how they must be submitted (example by mail or in person). Consult the list of Canadian visa offices for the requirements and procedures you must follow when you apply, or
in person or by mail at the Visa Application Centre in Los Angeles.
Also, you may be able to apply for a study permit from within Canada to attend a designated learning institution if you are a:

minor child studying at the primary or secondary level;
visiting or exchange student; or
student who has completed a short-term course or program of study that is a pre-requisite for acceptance at a designated learning institution.

I going to apply for one year diploma in toronto .. so i wanted to know that will i get a multiple entry visa or single entry visa??

also is this in our hands to apply for multiple oe single visa ...or its the authority of visa officer ?

if single entry visa... then in case of some emergencies can i fly back ... and without any effect on my studies ??

You must re-apply for a temporary resident visa (commonly known as a visitor visa) if:

your visa has expired; or
your visa was only valid for a single entry to Canada.


you cant travel with only study permit. study permit is a document that allows you to study in canada not to travel in and out of canada.



Try and ask other members that already got their Visa , maybe they where issued a mltiple or single.

but i think it is the VO decision to give a multiple xpecially if you apply for a study permit together with TRV.


but if you applying for a TRV only, it is your decision to apply for Multiple or single trv with appropriate visa fees

currenty Iam in my homecountry ... and applyng for study visa canada ...

my course diploma duration is for 1 yr(8month exact) nd 1 yr PGWP ...

so i wnted to know will i get study permit for single or multipe entry ????

So that means I can stay in vic and tell my mom to scan all the documents I need and just apply online while I'm there right?
or optionally I could enter the US for 90 days and apply in that time is that correct?

hello guys,

i saw this forum and find that you helping others by giving decent advice.
please help me also to take decision. Case is, my wife has applied for PR fsw 2014, but her file returned because of subcap full. she is masters in physiotherapy completed in 2010 july. she was trying for admission last year also and she got one offer letter from college but than due to some family reason she could not proceed to admission.
She is much interested to study Master in health administration. Our confusion is regarding,

1. is it good idea to apply for student visa after PR file return? may be VO officer will think she is planning to
settel there?

2. she has already master degree. can she apply for another master?

3. The gap is almost 5 years . july 2010 she passed her last study. 2010 to till now she is working in Kuwait as consultant physio. so gap period can affect file?

4. we got married last year. so can we apply for spouse visa for open work permit?

please help us to clear or confusions..

there is nothing u can do about it

she can apply for anything but getting a visa can be a problem if she already has masters. doing another masters should be ok cant be sure but to maximize her odds Phd is better

there is no gap if she was working.and that much educational gap wont matter as long as she has experience

yes u can apply together for study permit and spousal open work permit based on study permit
