Hi,

It is my understanding that when landing, a Canadian address must be
provided for the purpose of receiving permanent residence cards.
Obviously this can be a problem if the new resident hasn't rented
or purchased a place to live.

Are P.O. boxes acceptable as a place of residence, or must a street
address be provided? If P.O. boxes are not acceptable, I suppose
one has to enter Canada, rent an apartment, then come back and
land? Or is there an option to have the card mailed to an immigration
office near the city where you intend to settle, then pick it up when
you get there?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

1. PO Boxes are not accepted.
2. You can have it mailed to a friends address and they can forward it to you.
3. If you don't have a friend, then you have 6 months after landing to give CIC an address where the PR card can be mailed, if you don't supply the address, you will then have to re-apply for the card and then pick it up at an Immigration office.

Valuable answers, thank you so much.
If we are supposed to settle in Ontario but we don't have a place yet. So will be renting "temporary" places till founding a place. Is a fix address of a cousin in "MONTREAL" accepted????!!! Cause I have been told this is not possible as I have to provide an address in any province but Quebec as they will think I'll be living there while I don't have a CSQ!!

Any idea? Thanks

No - it won't be. You need to provide an address outside of Quebec.

You can simply state that you don't have an address yet. You'll then be given the option to either update your address by fax or online.
