There is no guarantee that you will be allowed to stay in Canada indefinitely if you come here as a student.

To qualify to apply for permanent residence, you must first complete your degree or diploma in Canada. After that, you must work for one full year in a full-time and skilled position in Canada. Once you have done all of this, you may qualify to apply for PR through the Canadian Experience Program. Processing times for this program are currently 15 months.

Job market is good and a lot of students are getting jobs. However, getting job on experience level is not easy as Canadian employers usually doesn't accept foreign experience.

1. After 6 months of you study in Canada you are allowed to work permit which allows you to work part time (maximum 20 hours) during regular semesters and full time in summers/breaks. You have this permit valid till the date of expiry of your study permit. You can work on this permit whenever you want. But the thing is that no employer will give you full time job based on this permit.

2. So after your diploma is over, you will take a letter from your uni/college stating that you have fulfilled the requirements. You will then apply to PGWP which allows you to work full time. For 2 years of diploma/degree your are eligible for 3 years of PGWP.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asp

3. You do not require any job for applying to PGWP.

4. When you fulfil the requirements for PR, you can apply within Canada.

1. If you read the above link you get the answer to your first question:
A Post-Graduation work permit cannot be valid for longer than the student’s study program, and the study program must be a minimum of eight months in length. For example, if you graduate from a four-year degree program, you could be eligible for a three-year work permit if you meet the criteria. If you graduate from an eight-month certificate program, you would be eligible for a work permit that is valid for no more than eight months.

For 1 year diploma you will get PGWP for 1 year.

2. After your diploma you can apply to Ontario PNP if you have a permanent job (NOC 0, A or B) offered from Canadian employer. http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS_JOBAPPLY.html#_qualify

3. Things to do after you get your PNP. Note PNP alone is nothing, you have to apply for PR after you get PNP.
