I am a Canadian Permanent Resident and living in Canada. Right now I am inviting my friend to apply for her visitor visa by sending her an invitation letter. I understand that I need to show proof of my permanent resident status. However, my PR card has expired and is in renewal process; can I use IMM 5292 , the confirmation of permanent residence as a proof? If not, what other documents may I use other than a photocopy of my PR card? The website says I can use a photocopy of IMM 1000, but it doesn't mention anything about IMM 5292 :(

Thank you so much for your help!

Will the visa officer question my current status, since the Confirmation of Permanent Residency was issued 10 years ago? Do I need to notarized my invitation letter to make things clear or whatever?

I am kind of frustrated right now... Thanks so much for your help!

A permanent resident Status never expires. yes a PR card may get expire, lost, or damage And can be renewed. So right now if your PR card is expired ,it does not means that your Status (permanent residency) is expired. the visa officers are very well aware of this so your COPR document (confirmation of permanent resident status document), or in simple words your landing document will be good/solid enoff to prove your status. additionally you can mention about your pr card renewal (not important but you can) and even you SIN number/card can reflect that you are currently a permanent resident of Canada.

Hi, I am going to land in Canada as a PR on 19th December. As we are expecting a baby in first week of February so we intend to invite my parents for some support during the delivery time. As I will be very new and probably without a job, can I still provide them the letter of invitation. Will that work.

Yes, you can. If it will work or not that is another story, it depends on their situation, not on you.
