Hi,

I've been following the bill and when it gets implemented I will get the necessary days to apply.

However the job I have in Canada transferred me to th UK for a year project a month ago but I am planning to go back to Canada next May the latest.

I am planning to visit Canada sometime after the law gets implemented (which I understand we don't have a date yet). My questions are, because the clause of intend to reside will be eliminated. Could I apply if I visit Canada for a week after s implemented? Will the fact that I will come back to the UK for keep working and not living in Canada affect me? Should I definitely wait until I am back to work and live there?

I have a Canadian address and I've been filing taxes since 2009. Is the first time I leave the country to work since.

Thank you

There doesn't appear to be a residence requirement at all anymore for Canadian citizenship, just a physical presence requirement. Once you meet that and apply, you are free to go anywhere you want, but you must keep PR status valid until oath. Keep in mind though that being resident outside Canada during the processing period--while no longer a legal problem for citizenship applicants--might still be a factual issue in any given cases causing IRCC to doubt your physical presence declarations, submit your application to increased scrutiny and even cause delays in processing. There have even been reports in the past of suspicions of some IRCC agents slowing down applications from those who reside abroad during the processing period in order to cause them to lose PR status before the oath. This probably doesn't happen often, but nobody can say it doesn't happen. Couple all this with the logistical problems that might arise: Such as missing notices to appear for the test, oath, etc. Can make being abroad during the processing period fraught with difficulty. Each person has to decide for themselves the best course of action.
