Hello!

We are currently filling out the documents and have stumbled upon a problem. We are not sure what to put for dependants in this document.

My husband is the one being sponsored under spouse in the family class. We have one child together who is a Canadian citizen and is only one month old.
Does he need to put her down as a dependent and who else needs to be put down as dependent? Does this include him as well? Or me?

I have the same question, and I have a one month old as well!
I took it to mean dependants of his own (like kids from another marriage) so your child wouldn't go on that form.. I could be wrong, though.

Read the statement, just above "Dependents" on form IMM 0008. It says to include dependents (spouse or common law partner, children) who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Your son is a canadian citizen, while your husband is the principal applicant and the only one you are sponsoring. So in your case, the "dependents" section is not applicable. Your husband can fill out the IMM 0008 form and click "remove dependent", to get rid of that section.

But when your husband fills out IMM 5406, he has to list you under spouse, your son under children, and also his parents and siblings under the approprite sections. He is the only one to fill this form, since he is being sponsored and your other dependent(baby) is not over 18 yrs of age.

Not quite correct, my dear. It also includes children that the couple has in common, as well as any dependent children from previous relationships IF they are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

If your baby is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident(PR), then see my comment above for what do with IMM 0008 and also for IMM 5406.

If your baby is not a citizen nor PR, then your spouse(who is being sponsored) has to include the baby under dependents when he completes form IMM 0008.
