Hey everyone,

I'm applying for Study permit a SECOND time. My first application was approved but I couldn't proceed due to family reasons. And while I've handled that matter writing a cover letter, I've found out that I've made a mistake in my previous application.

In IMM1294 where it says "Have you ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country?" I wrote NO in my previous application. But I had actually been refused USA visit visa in 2000. A stamp on the last page of my old passport is proof of that. But I forgot to mention cause I was so young at that time. But still I was issued a permit and TRV in 2013.

Now I'm applying again for Study permit but confused what to write in that. Considering that writing NO got me a visa I'm thinking I should write that this time as well. But may be I got lucky that time and I should write YES this time. In that case my previous application will raise suspicion. I'm just stuck because of some stupid mistake.

So what do u guys think I should do? That old US visit visa refusal is 15 years old now. What should I do. I'm already so confused and depressed because of it, please take it easy on me.

thnx.

That is too old, I feel you should write NO, but I'm not sure man...please don't count on me...

In any case, I get a vibe you'll get visa regardless...so chill :)

Don't lie on your application. You got lucky the first time you didn't answer properly. Are you willing to risk getting a ban from Canada because you lied this time? Having a prior refusal on a US visa especially if it was a long time ago will not prevent you from getting a Canada visa now. But lying will get you a ban.

Say yes and explain the circumstances in the space provided for in the form.

I am in a similar situation and really stressed. I had 2 refusals as a minor for US and I also misunderstood the question. And was putting NO. All previous applications to IRCC have been approved and I was putting no to this question. I now know I have to put yes but I’m not sure if my previous application Answer is gonna cause a red flag. And exactly what would my explanation be
