So, I got my receipt to pay the fees in the mail yesterday. My husband and I are hoping to prepay the fees, since my visitor record expires in December, and I'm going back to Michigan for Thanksgiving. We're hoping having that much done (Paperwork isn't submitted at this point, I'm still trying to figure out all of the extra documents I need) so when I cross the border, it will make things easier.

I was sent two receipts, with different numbers on them. Is one for the 75, and one for 475 (Or whatever the other amount is)? They don't say anything on the paper itself.

You will need to ask CIC. Anyone who tried to answer here would only be guessing. I'm rather surprised the receipts don't say what they are for or give an amount on them.

$75 is for your sponsorship application fee
$475 is for the principal applicant fee

You got a receipt in the mail? I never did. All I got was the one that you print yourself after you pay online. Was I supposed to get one?

If you pay online you get an online receipt. You are good - no worries ;).

What I believe the OP is referring to are proof of payment documents that CIC mails out to people who do not want to pay online. These papers have a receipt number on them so that if the fees are paid at a bank, the bank gets a copy, the applicant gets a copy and CIC gets a copy. They are generic forms so that any one can be used for any fee. That is why the question arose with which receipt to use for which fee. The answer is, it does not matter as long as you pay the correct amount for the fees applicable to what is being submitted. Blessings.

Yeah, exactly as explained above. We don't have a credit card, so paying online became an issue. There's a request to be sent a blank receipt, to take to the bank, but ... in being blank, it never told me what to put on each, hence my confusion.

Thanks so much for that answer. I'm hoping to go to the bank some time this week.
