Hi guys kinda scary here. Maybe the Embassy took it the wrong way or I am the idiot here.

I had emailed them cause I wasn't sure if they scan you when you leave Canada for the visa so they know you left.

I came for 2 weeks in Dec till Jan, got married. I come from Luxembourg visa exempt country so I get my visa at the airport.

So here is the email I had with them and they tell me I need an ARC now. Either they person reading it didn't understand it or it's cause I am married I need it now to return to Canada?

ME:
I entered into Canada on the 19th of Dec and left Jan 4th. I don't know if there is a place I am suppose to go to, to say that I am leaving the country so you guys have it on your records? For the visa part that is? Or is this handled by plane records or something? I also got married to my girlfriend, so I will be back some time this year I just don't want to have problems, do I need to prove I left the country?

Embassy reply:
Dear Applicant,

If you intend to return to Canada, you must apply for an Authorization to Return to Canada.

You must download the below application, attach the payment along with the requested documents on the following web page:
inadmissibility arc <--- link

Fees and payment options are available at the following web page:
france visas fees <--- link

Yours truly,

ME:

I come from Luxembourg. I don't think I need an ARC I was already there, I came back last Friday. Does the airport, have a system where they scan my passport to show that I left Canada? That is what I am wondering.

Their reply that freaked me out!

Dear Sir,

As mentionned earlier, if you intend to return to Canada, you must follow the instructions provided in our previous email.

Please act accordingly.

Yours truly,

The PLEASE ACT ACCORDINGLY???? Was I that mean in the emails??? What gets too me is the ARC part. Do I really need it or did the person doing the emails not now they were talking about or did I piss them off and they write it in their system "This person now needs ARC" or what?

I don't get it....

I come from a visa exempt country and every time i visited my husband, i had to talk to an officer at the immigration desk when entering AND leaving the country, so it was for sure on records. I was told to report back at the immigration when i leave cause i have to leave, youre not allowed to overstay the time they gave you. Plus youre married now and started an application or want to start one, so you werent just a visitor, if you at the border control mentioning you visit your finace or girlfriend then its pretty common you get send to immigration and they tell you then how it works when you have to leave and what to do. If you leave without registration at immigration, then theres nothing to prove it, the airport staff and flight attendants only take a quick glance at your passport for ID and theres no registration, not that i know of. Dont think they missunderstood anything, i would do what they adviced you to do.

Yeah I got married on the 3rd of this month and left at the airport normally like everyone else. I mean should I get an ARC still then? Maybe I should just wait till all my paper work is done so it's easier and not deal with extra bs maybe? Or the wifey will fly out to me. I think it be best that way. To avoid problems.

Did I have to see an immigration officer when I left? To show that I left? Or that is only once I am married and return to Canada then leave?

when you went there to visit what did you tell the border controll why you come to canada? they always ask the purpose of your visit. Were you sent to the immigration desk? If so they would have to told you to report back to them when you leave. If they didnt tell you i wonder why, still would have been better to do so. Did you already start the application when you emailed them about it?

My husband comes from a visa exempt country and we've NEVER spoken to an immigration officer when we've left the country.

We've come and gone three times in a three year period since getting married, and it's never been an issue at all.

I think you are way overreacting. They seem to think you have been deported, which you have not been obviously. DO NOT E-MAIL them again for a while however.

Did you give your passport to anyone at the airport? Were they in front of a computer? If so, it's in the system.

I was deported/exclusion order in 2007 but my time has pasted and even the Embassy in the summer time said I could go and just talk to immigration officer and if they are pleased they'll let me in.

I went there no problems, and got the visa at the airport.

Maybe they want me to do an application for ARC to make money off of me.

No when I came at the airport they seen I had a European passport and said "go there" and you have immigration officers sitting there giving out visa's cause I get mine at the airport. And I told him I am going to visit the gf. Cause the mom invited me over for Christmas so I can spend it with them and not be alone.

That was it.

Oh and I didn't send in my application yet. I will this week.

Hey Germany! :)

If you wanted to, you can contact the border officials www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca and ask if it's in the system. But I honestly wouldn't A) worry about it or B ) e-mail them again anytime soon lol

I remember giving my passport to the airlines to get my boarding pass. When standing in line after the long line, and before security. I gave the guy my passport or showed it to him with my ticket. I don't know if he took it to that machine or not. I really can't remember. Should I call them and ask or something? I am sure it's standard. Maybe I didn't pay attention. Ahhhhh :-[

This is why I use to email them with a fake email account!

lol

Yeah I do over panic at times. Cause I had immigration problems in my past in my life in the US. I know RED FLAGS! But they didn't even have that in their system in 2012, and in 2007 they did????

Gosh who runs that place? lol.

Oh man I hope they are not reading these forums! lol.

Oh no showing the passport to the airline with your ticket is just an ID check, not more, they dont check on things like immigration status. Thats normal/standard yes. Well, i cant tell what went wrong, but you said you had an exclusion order 2007, maybe they got mixed up there with it, i dont know. Anyway i dont think anyone can give you a good advice here, either wait as said or get it cleared up if you think it has to be cleared up, thats what i would do, just cause thats the way i am, i cant have things unsolved.....its up to you, you could do what parker suggested to contact the border officials.

I can only tell that i had to talk to an immigration officer when i visited my husband cause as everyone you gotta tell them whats the purpose of your trip and if its visiting partners or family they ask more to see if the person is not gonna stay illegal when the visiting time is up. On my first time i got told to report back when i leave so they can make sure i left. The second time i didnt have to do it, i had a nice guy and it took only 5 min and that time i even came for 1 more week than last time. It all depends on your whole background and story and the officer. I never had an exclusion order or anything like that, so im not familiar with it.

Yeah true I had emailed them already the other department. If not there is a location here in Luxembourg I can show up to show that I am not there! If anything.

Alright thanks. I think they got mixed up about before for sure.
