Hi all,
I'm American, and my wife is Canadian. We live and work in the US, and my wife is a permanent resident (we've been married since '09). She's recently been offered a job back in Canada, and while we know our optimal situation would be to have enough time for me to apply for Canadian PR while still living in the US, we just don't have the time and don't want to miss this opportunity. We will be able to afford living on just her paycheck in Canada for a little while, so me being able to work immediately isn't a concern. I do plan to file for a work permit at the same time as filing for PR once we're there, but my question regards the actual physical move. Is there something I need to do before crossing the border? Can we just show up with our U-HAUL full of our stuff (and itemized lists!) and I'll get a visitor visa at the border? Do they not really care, and I won't need to get any kind of visa?
Thanks,
Robert
