Hi Everyone,

I am a November common law applicant (Application received Nov 18 2014) and I have noticed that a number of people who have a similar timeline to mine are receiving notification that their application is being treated as inland rather than the preferred outland route that they had originally applied for (usually when they receive AOR or SA from what I have seen). Is this a common practice by CIC?

I from the UK and I'm currently in Canada on a WHV with my common law partner (who's Canadian). It would completely ruin my situation if CIC were to treat my application as inland (and so extending the application process probably by a year at least). I'm pretty sure I didn't write 'Outland application' on the envelope the pack was sent in (as the guide didn't call for that), however I filled all the appropriate forms out as anyone would when applying outland. Is this something I'm worrying about unnecessarily?

Any clarification would be awesome.

Thanks

Are you referring to those whose applications are being retained and processed at Mississauga and Ottowa? If so, they are still being processed as Outland applications, they are just being retained and processed. It is making their processing time much faster.
There was also a number if people that CIC mistakenly started to process as inland instead of Outland but those are being rectified.
If you've filled out the correct forms and sent it to the address advised then you have nothing to worry about.
