Question about checking application status online

A pleasant day!

I saw in the Canada post tracking website that my application was received and signed in Sydney, NS on January 15, 2014. However, I cannot see anything when I checked my application status online in the CIC website. Do anyone know why is that? I thought that it will automatically appear in my application status online.

It will take at least 3 months before you can see status on cic ecas
If your application incomplete for miss document it will be sent back to you with in 50 days from

It may physically be there, but they may not have opened up the package, inspected the contents, and started your process.

I sent an application October 12th and never received a letter from the CIC until December 20th which told me the office received my application December 3rd. The letter contained the ID number I needed to check the status on the CIC website. Ever since, my application status has remained "Received."

Depending on what you applied for, it may take awhile for anything to happen. Because the website states (For Proof of Citizenship Cetificates) the processing time is 6 months from the time the application is received, I had to put in an Urgent Processing request as I need it by May 1st so that I can apply for a SIN, a healthcard, and work.

Even though I mailed it out in October, the 6 months timeframe didn't start until December 3rd (Approximate completion time of June 3rd). Hopefully my case will be heard and the process will be expedited for me, otherwise I will be in a tough spot.
