i asked my immigration consultant if he could apply working holiday (international experience) visa if my name is drawn while the study permit application process is processing. He said I can have study permit and working holiday visa at the same time but it doesn't make sense. I am confused but how come it doesn’t make sense?? He said I can keep working holiday approval letter for up to 1 year, so i can switch from my study permit to working holiday visa when i finish my study.
The reason why I want to apply soon when my name gets drawn is because I’m 30 years old and turning 31 in June. 30 is the limit. Will you also explain about the whole switching thing he mentioned about? I’m confused

Answered here in link below although was not aware of age in that reply so as a backup should you not get a PGWP following study then applying for a WHV can make some sense.

However timing still key given when you get a WHV approval letter it has to be activated usually within 12 months of issue. So you could get to a point in your study where you are still studying then have to activate the WHV which has no benefit whilst studying.

Then once you graduate you could apply for a PGWP anyway again a one time opportunity that has to be applied for within 90 days of course completion confirmation.

Ultimately decision is yours if you want WHV as a backup given your age then up to you.

Can I still activate/apply for WHV within the 12 months I receive an approval letter even though I’ll be 31? Or do we need to activate/apply when I’m still 30? 30 is the age limit
