Hello,
we are getting all the papers ready for a family class PR application.
I have tried to read about this but now I'm completely confused.
Do all foreign documents (birth certificate, police records etc) need to be legalized and authenticated?
Some say yes, some say no. I need to get a police certificate from Argentina, is it ok if it's just issued by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Human Rights? Or is a stamp from Foreign Ministry and Embassy also needed?

All the copies after your original documents need to be translated (if are not in english or french) and certified by a public notary.

Good luck!

Embassy also can certified your copies after an original document.

Hi,

thank you so much for the information!
Just to make sure: I only need to legalize/authenticate copies of the original and not the original itself?
And I will have the original certificate translated from Spanish to English/French, and the translation needs to be certified by a public notary?
I'm sorry if I ask stupid questions :)

No its fine no worries, we all have questions at times.

Yes, you should only legalize the copies, you never send and original paper along with your application, you may never get it back.

As for original certificate it need to be legalized the translated copie by a public notary.Usualy a translator working together with a public notary.

Good luck!

Hey m and m,
My police records were in Spanish. I didn't bother to legalize the originals (apostillado). I just submitted the originals with the translations and those translations were notirized.
