Hi there,

We're in the process of applying for PR for my husband, who's currently in Canada on his IEC visa, however this is due to expire at the end of June at which point he's heading back home to NZ and I'm going with him for a vacation.

We know we're applying as outland, but because we'll be sending the application hopefully within the next week or so and that we'll be heading off to NZ in a couple of weeks time - does this matter for selecting which class to apply under? (We've currently selected Living in Canada - Family Class (Outland))

Because by the time they'll probably recieve the application, he'll already be back in New Zealand but when we send it, he will still be living here until we depart. Just not sure if this matters or not?

It doesn't matter in your case.

You absolutely should not select inland - because once he leaves, it could be considered abandoning the application.

It's perfectly fine to apply outland while in Canada and then go wherever you wish, updating addresses as you go. It's not a good idea to apply inland and then leave Canada.

You're right - we're definitely not applying inland. While we had thought about it initially a few months back, there's way more pros to doing it outland as opposed to inland for us.

We just weren't initially sure about selecting whether he's currently living in Canada or not before we send it and leave, since it changes the way we answer some of the other forms depending on what we select. (Although not by much!)

We're also including proof of our airline tickets that we'll be leaving before his IEC visa expires as part of our application just to make sure!

Thanks for the prompt response!
