Question about applying for G2 (with driving experience letter)

Hello All,

Here is my case, hoping someone can help me with this.

I have an Indian license since 2008 and its valid for Light motor vehicle and Motorcycle which would be valid until 2028.
Although, I was in the US from 2011-2015 and my last license in US expired in December 2015 (with one year of experience with that license). Overall I had US license from 2012-2015 (different states).

I am wondering on these two things:
1. Do they accept expired US license for exchange (less than one year expired) and if so, how would i prove 3 years of experience in US, as it was in different states.
2. I wasn't in India in preceding three years (as I read on their site), so would my Indian experience not count as well??

Just wanted to get sure with my options that I will have once I land in Toronto (In September 2016).

1. check the ontario services website about what documentation is required for transferring licenses. i am not sure if they will take an expired one. to prove your driving experience in the us, you'll need to get your official driving record from each state. the test centre will not accept printed out versions, it must be an official document from that state's department of motor vehicles. you can go to each state's website to find informaiton about how to apply for one. you will need your driver's license numbers for each state to do this.

2. i can not answer this question, though i would suspect this is on the service ontario website about transferring your license and the required documentation needed.

For the Indian license, Qorax had given an in-detail explanation of obtaining a license with Driving experience letter. I think i misread or misunderstood the 3 years condition (I believe it is that you need to have 24+ experience by 3 years before application).
Still if anyone can answer the first point or share their experience, it would be appreciated

I went to Ontario DMV recently with my expired US license and had to start the process over again as my license were expired for more than a year. But if its less than a year, they can do a full exchange. They did give me credit for the last 3 years of driving experience so I don't have to wait to take G2 and G driving test.

Thanks for the info anandg12. But are you 100% (preferably per your observation or experience at Ontario DMV) about the above quoted text?
Cuz, if it is so, then I wont get anything related to my indian license (as in experience letter).
I can start looking for fetching driving records from the US states where I had licenses from.

Swapping US license (expired)

So apparently, I went ahead and asked the DMV directly (and also had someone ask about this in the DMV directly) and in the end got conflicting answers.

The DMV customer service replied that I can exchange my under one year expired US license with driving records, although I wouldn't be needing them as I had license's from the states where IRE search can be done.
But the official at the office itself mentioned that I would have to start from scratch again (even if its expired under one year).

So that only adds to dilemma, thereby I will just reiterate my question once here (to seek help from someone who might have had personal experience).
Was anyone having Under one year expired US license able to get it swapped/exchanged with an Ontario license directly?

are you asking a US DMV office what the Canadian drive centre will do? You are much better off asking the canadian drive centre about their rules and regulations than asking a US DMV office which has no authority whatsoever to suggest what the Canadian drive centre will or will not accept. I think you need to call the CAnadian drive centre or at least go down there with what you have and hope for the best...

I am not in Canada yet. And no I did not ask US DMV, I had my cousin go and ask directly at an Ontario DMV office
