Question about academic history. Will they refuse?

Hello,

One of my two applications for MASc is still under review. Ryerson already gave me an offer but for MEng instead of MASc. They said that if I manage to find a supervisor while I'm there, they will switch my degree over to MASc. Carleton has been silent from day one and on the application portal it still says "Under review by department".

I have completed MEng from the UK in 2012. The course title is the same. Do you think the visa officer will refuse my visa because of this?

For what it's worth, I have a first class degree. I did really well academically.

Well, in the forum posts i have heard that visa is refused if one seeks to pursue a degree that is hierarchally below the one that they have already obtained, e.g. if a MBA graduate seeks to do a PGDip.

However i know people got visa to do an LLM in Canada and already hold a LLM from Dhaka Uni. Trying to do a second Masters degree is not likely to be held to be unreasonable.

Thank you for your response. I will try to write a good SOP. I do have actual career goals and aspirations which, if talked about, may convince them that I am a genuine student. I am hoping that my good results of my previous degree will show them that I am a sincere student.
