Hello All,

I have a question about AAIP

I have been working for a Canadian Company for more than 1 year as an Accounting Technician, category B by NOC. Because I am on Open Work Permit (my husband is a student) I am not eligible to apply under Alberta Opportunity Stream. My questions are:

1. Is it possible to get an LMIA for an Accounting Technician job? My employer is ready to help with it.
2. Can I apply for a Closed Work Permit from within Canada after getting LMIA?
3. Can I apply for Alberta Opportunity Stream after getting LMIA and Closed Work Permit immediately, since I already have more than 1 year of work experience?

Thank you!

1. Yes. Make sure your employer reviews and follows the job posting / advertising requirements and follows them exactly.
2. Yes.
3. I don't know.

These measures will be reviewed quarterly. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Nominees must have skills to fill job shortages or be planning to buy or start a business in Alberta. MyInsuranceInfo
