can anyone please help me understand how to find out if the crime committed by the sponsor needs to be given in this question. Is it crimes that in canada would have a min sentance of 10 years or only crimes that in canada would have a max of 10 years.

basically the crime my sponsor was convicted of is possession of a schedule one narcotic from the states which in canada looks to be a max of under ten years for first offence.

please help.

Question 18: Have you been charged with an offence under an Act of Parliament punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of at least 10 years?


As per my understanding it means:
- if the offence is punishable with a term of imprisonment of 10 years or more then answer is YES
- if the offence is punishable with a term of imprisonment of up to 10 years then answer is NO
