Hi,

I came to Canada in September 2011 for studying in a Masters of Engineering program at a university, and stay registered for almost two terms and then I decide to change the program within the university. But it took time so I was not registered for the summer term and I went home for two months.I also transferred my credits from the previous degree to the new degree. Then I started my new degree in september 2012, and I think I will complete this by end of this year mostly.

So what do you think, for how much time I will get my Post graduate work permit. Because technically I am studying for 2 years. Will they count the time for both degrees or just the current.

Thanks in advance :)

Just the current degree. You didn't finish the other one.

You will get work permit equivalent to the length of your current course.

You will need to take a course completion certificate from university (in case you want to apply for a work permit before your convocation). If your course completion states that your course was 18 months then you will get a work permit for 18 months even if you complete your course in 15-16 months. If your course completion says that your course was 2 years then you will get a work permit valid for 3 years.
