Query regarding name on documents

i want to know if I can have different names on educational documents and passport with only the difference of inclusion of surname on passport.I have mentioned my surname only on passport.

Its better to have names correct every where to avoid any last point clarifications and issues.
First name, Last name and DOB plays an important role.
