Hello Everyone,

I had about 3 years work experience with two different employers back home before coming to Canada. I was not able to obtain the employment reference letters from these employers (1 did manage to get a letter from one employer but it was not as per CIC guidelines), with these reasons I opted against applying as a FSW (since I was not able to prove my work experience).

I am now eligible to apply under the CEC category but do I still need to mention this work experience in my Express Entry online profile ? I would still not be able to produce any documentation to support it.
I discussed omitting all these work experiences that I cannot prove on my EE applicaiton with an immigration consultant but they advised me against doing this since they said that, I mentioned those work experiences in my initial study permit application and I cannot omit that information from my express entry profile now.

I tried contacting the employers back home dozens of time (no written evidence, most on phone and sending family or friends to meet the responsible people in person) but they have failed to cooperate to facilitate me, esp since I resigned with one of the employers against their liking.

I have had PGWPP for 1 year now and have being working with an engineering firm since.

What course of action do you guys suggest me? Should I mention the work experience ? although I know it benefit me as I am not claiming any points against it.

Thank You.

I really need your help guys.

Keep in mind you can never "omit" information as that will be misrepresentation.

You need to enter the experience under "personal history" not work history.
This way you are still in sync with your CIC history and you don't need to provide evidence for that experience.

The consultant is probably suggesting that to ensure that you have enough points to hit the "cut-off"
If you do not claim that experience you will not be awarded points for that.

Thanks for your reply Aneelkanth,

yes I want to be in sync with CIC history but in one of the other posts in this forum, someone suggested a person to not mention anything that you can't proof.

But your suggesting of entering the experience under "Personal history" would solve my problem (so thank you for that suggestion).

Could you tell me how can I enter this in my express entry profile since under the personal information tab, it doesn't let you enter your work information.

Thank you,

Awaiting your reply

There are 2 different applications - there is the Express Entry "Expression of Interest" (EOI) Profile, and there is the PR application (in your case for the CEC Program).

The express entry profile is used to award you CRS points. Yes, foreign work experience will give you more points, but you still need to be able to document it if you claim it. It is not "misrepresentation" to leave something off of the EE profile - you only need to include things that will earn your invitation to apply.

If you get the Invitation to apply (ITA), you will complete the actual PR application. Here, you cannot omit anything - if you do, it could be seen as misrepresentation. Here, you will need to list all your previous employment on the Background document.

But you will only be asked for letters for work experience in the EOI profile. If you cannot provide proof of the work experience you claim, the VO will re-calculate your CRS points, and if you fall below the point threshold, your application will be ineligible.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jes_ON,

Thank you for replying, I apologize for lacking information about the process. I logged into my online CIC account and then clicked on express entry (blue tab) and it led me to a questionnaire to determine my eligibility. Once the questionnaire was complete, I was redirected to the express entry profile and I started populating the information under the tabs like "Personal details, Contact details, Study and languages, Application details, Representative, Work history"

I have completed all other information but in the "work history" tab.

What I understand from your post, I should not mention the work experience that I cannot prove in this tab within the express entry online profile? and only mention my Canadian work experience right?

Assuming I get the ITA, I will then provide them all the information about my work history (regardless of being able to prove it or not) and they will judge me accordingly.

Am I following correctly ?

Thank You again for your help.

Yes, that is correct. But you will lose a good number of CRS points if you have skilled foreign work experience and don't claim it. Consider it worth the effort to try and get the letters....

Hi salkhan,

I am in a similar situation right now. Just curious how your application under CEC panned out. Thanks!
