Query regarding Health Card in Ontario

Hello members,
My spousal sponsored inland PR is in process,and I have recently received my work permit.
I am in the process of applying for job.
I have query related to getting Ontario Health card.
Can I apply for Health card on the basis of open work permit OR
Do I need to have a full time job before applying to OHIP card ?

You need a job that will last over 6 months to apply for OHIP and start the 3 month wait time.
