Query : Post Graduate Work Permit

Dear All ,

Good Day !

Can we obtain a PGWP for one year after completing a one year post grad diploma in Sheridan college ? i saw a video in youtube stating that the employer should go for LMIA for the PGWP to be issued ? is that true ? and if the program is total of 8 months and 4 months of Co-op is this still a one year program ?

Impact of length of the studies in Canada and the length of the work permit


If the official length of your program of study is:

less than eight months
you are not eligible for this program
less than two years but more than eight months
you may get a work permit for a period no longer than the length of your program of study (for example, if you studied for nine months, a work permit may be issued for a period of nine months)
two years or more
a work permit may be issued for three years

don't think you can apply for PGWP or maybe you should talk to someone from international student office in your school .

if you can not apply for PGWP, you have to apply for work permit.
your right, a company you are going to work for, have to apply for LMO or LMIA first. (it takes a month(s) and the company have to pay for the fee)
so ask your employer if they would do.
Then you can apply for a work permit with LMO/LMIA letter from the company.
