Hi, I had submitted my initial FSW app to CIO, Sydney and subsequently to Buffalo office. I have received a request from Buffalo office about a month back for Medicals and RPRF. I got my medicals done about 2 days back. But regarding RPRF, they have not mentioned anything about the mode of payment etc. They have also updated their website saying that all buffalo cases are being transferred to CPP Ottawa. I am currently located in India. Can anyone please guide me on how can I pay the RPRF. eg:- By DD or online etc. Thanks..

Payment Instructions for RPRF:
•Fees must be paid by bank draft, certified cheque, postal money order (PMO) or manager's cheque. Cash payment is not accepted.
•Print your name and file number on the back of the bank draft or certified cheque.
•it is advisable to pay in Canadian Dollars to avoid currency fluctuation.
•If you are paying in Canadian dollars, the bank draft or certified cheque should be addressed to the: Receiver General for Canada.

RPRF at this time is CAD $490 for the principal applicant and also for accompanying spouse. So PA + spouse in total is CAD $980.

Every principal applicant and his/her accompanying spouse/common law partner is required to pay a Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) in the amount of $490 CAD or $490. USD. The RPRF must be submitted in the form of a money order, certified cheque or bank draft payable to the “Canadian Consulate General”. Please write your file number on the back of the cheque, money order or bank draft. The RPRF will be refunded if for any reason you do not immigrate to Canada.

Appreciate the quick response.. Have got one more query regarding the bank. Any idea, if the bank, from which I will be making the DD, needs to have a branch/office in Canada? eg:- ICICI Bank or SBI.. Thanks.

The bank need not have any office or branch to issue DD........its their lookout....... :)

Enquire at a nearby bank and ask them to issue a DD payable to Receiver General for Canada in CAD 490.

If they issue DD payable at a foreign location, they will charge u a nominal amount for it, don't forget to ask them the expiry of that DD.

Hope this helps! :D

I will get my demand draft in CAD today.. Any idea where do I need to send it? Do I need to send it to Receiver general's office or VO buffalo(It is closed since may 31st,2012) and they are saying all cases are being transferred to CPP Ottawa, so in that case do i need to send it to CPP Ottawa.
Also with the demand draft do i need to send any covering letter.. I hope I am not asking too many questions but the letter from buffalo office does not contain any details. Thanks..

I was asked to sent the RPRF. I am in India and my VO is London. If I am sendng the draft to London VO, is still the bank draft payable to the “Canadian Consulate General''

Payment by bank draft, bank cheque or postal order

A bank draft / bank cheque is a cheque issued by a bank payable to a person, in this case the Receiver General for Canada. The name of the Canadian bank that will pay the Receiver General for Canada will be written on the cheque.

The bank draft, bank cheque or postal order should be made payable to the: Receiver General for Canada
