Hi,

I have an query related to Mother's name error in birth certificate and passport of my son. Giving example so that it wil be easy to explain.

My/Mother's offical name - A B C
My husbands/Father's name - P Q
Mothers name on my sons birth certificate and passport - A P Q

These documents (bc and pp) were issued in India. I called Indian embassy in Singapore and they mentioned it is usual issue. They can issue me a letter saying that both of these are my names (but I never used other name) and I can upload this letter with my sons birth certificate. I will try to use this letter and update my name on his passport.

Anyone faced similar issue? Any thoughts or suggestion on this? Appreciate you inputs!

What i would suggest is, you use that letter and on the basis of that letter file an application for the correction of name in the passport as well in the BC.

Yes, I will try to use that letter and update name on his passport but understood from them that they (Indian embassy) cant issue new birth certificate as it was originally issued in India. I need to go back to the place where it was issued and get the new one which is very tedious.

For now, for eAPR I am planning to submit same birth certificate with letter from embassy.

Ya,getting/Updating BC in India is very tedious process which includes 4-5 months of processing.

Hi,

I have similar issue. My last name printed incorrectly in my kid's birth certificate, which was issued in india.

I do not have any supporting document from embassy.

In this case how can i handle this situation? Please advise.

I think they deliberately make such mistakes for future incomes.

I am not an expert but check if this sounds like something worth trying.
If you are out of India, you can try to get such letter from Indian embassy. If you are in India and if you can provide any other proofs like - marriage cert and your spouse's correct name on BC then you can try to get it notarized and provide that document.

Hi if you are in India, you can update in your local municipal committee from where that Birth Certificate issued from,by providing an Affidavit and your and your wife's adhaar cards.

I think this process may take a minimum of 2-3 months max.

But If you are out of India, then its good to take the letter from Embassy or do consult where you want to submit,if they accept the notrazied affidavit.
